Radeon x850xt PE....

My thoughts

Is this a good card for 120 dollars?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814102052

Only got 120 to spare.

Another thing, it doesn't say the Core/Memory Clocks, does anyone know what it is at?

Eh it's ok but I'd buy the: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130054 as it supports SM3. It's also a little faster in some games while slower in others they're both pretty close but the 7600GT uses less space and power. :P

I have to say they are pretty close, even though X850 has 16 pipelines and 256-bit bus, IMO I would go with 7600GT, it runs cooler (90nm process) and is pretty quiet.

COMPARE

Meh...Just looking at the benchmarks is making me want the 7600 gt.... But when I looked at Filip's link. it looked like the x850 beats the 7600.

I don't really care of its takes up less space or if its quieter, i just wanna know which is better O_o

I've just checked few forums and some would go with X850XT PE while others would choose 7600GT.

I would go for the 7600 gt, only because it has newer technology and doesn't get has hot as a x850xtpe and if it can get to 680/850 all the better

Keep in mind that 7600GT is smaller, quieter, cooler, 90nm process, less power usage, more overclockable and has SM 3.0 support.

Whatever you choose you can't go wrong, they are pretty similar when stock.

hmm...Can you give me some pictures with shader model 3, and some pictures without shader model 3??

Cause im thinking about the x850xt pe now.

Right now theres virtually no difference. I would get the x850XT PE until DX10 comes out, then upgrade to SM3 then.

The X850XT-PE packs more power than many people thinks, and it's definitely the best option for the money.

Here read this as I've never owned an X850XT PE but my roommate does have the 7600GT and I've got a 6800GT and 6800 Ultra in the house to compare to. http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/08/25/sub_200_pci_express_graphics_card_showdown/index.html

The x850XT outperforms the 7600GT in 3DMark05, Oblivion, Far Cry, and pretty much every game in those tests you showed me.

The only reason it was low in 3DMark06 was because it couldn't run the SM3 tests, which lowered the scores. Lets also now forget thats the x850XT, not the x850XT PE.

I'm not a fan of HDR, so that wont be a problem to me.
The x850 can run HDR...

7600GT outperforms X850xt in HL2, need for speed Most Wanted and call of duty2 .
7600GT can outperform X850xt in some games, and vice versa.
So, 7600GT is eqaul to X850 in performance
But i go with 7600GT because it uses less power, it supports SM3.0 and more overclockable.

Also 7600GT is cheaper, u can get it at $109.99 after $20.00 Mail-In Rebate

X850 can't run all games with HDR, because some games requires a Shader Model 3.0 card to run HDR. For example, x850 can't run Oblivion or FAR CRY with HDR, while 7600GT can.

HDR makes lighting look more realistic, look here you can see comparison of HDR, bloom and with none in oblivion
http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/2006/03/31/elder_scrolls_oblivion/3.html

Also, look at these two screenshots for FAR CRY.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Farcrynohdr.jpg (wothout HDR)

I din't find any picture that compare shader model 3 with shader model 2.

But u can see here the features of SM3.0 over SM2.0

The 7600GT can't run full HDR either if you use FSAA.

I've had both, and the x850XT PE is the best overall performer.
