First post here so hello everyone, been a couple years since ive built one so im a lil out of the know how for it but here are the basics i might be gettin:

Mobo - Asus A8S-X SiS Socket 939 ATX Motherboard and an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.0GHz Processor with Fan

Case - Kingwin SK-523 Black ATX Mid-Tower Case with Clear Side, Front USB, Audio and SATA Ports

HardDrive - Seagate / 160GB / 7200 / 8MB / SATA-300 / OEM / Hard Drive

G-Card - BFG GeForce 7300 GT OC / 256MB GDDR2 / SLI / PCI Express / DVI / VGA / HDTV / Video Card

CD Burner - Lite-On Internal / 52x32x52x CD-RW / Black / EIDE CD Burner

DVD Burner - Lite-on SHM-160P6S / 16x8x16x DVD+RW / 16x6x16x DVD-RW / 8x DVD+R DL / 4x DVD-R DL / 48x24x48x CD-RW / Black/Beige Faceplates / Internal / DVD Writer

Memory - Kingston Dual Channel 1024MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz Memory (2 x 512MB)

i can buy the other things like soundcard, keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers somewhere around here, any input is welcome, and im working with a budget, all the above is 550 shipped... not bad to me, tell me what u think. Thx :D

The 7300 will be able to play most games on high settings. I guarentee it. Heck! My FX5500 plays FEAR and CoD2 on high settings with little lag!

Honestly?

The SiS chipset are generally dogs. Reliable, but dogs nonetheless.
The CPU is a dinosaur. lol :P
The HDD is good.
The VGA is not exactly the Porsche, or even the Mustang, of video cards.
You don't need a CD burner if you have a DVD multifunction. That's a pointless waste of money. Sink the extra cashola into a better CPU or VGA.
The DVD burner will serve you well.
The memory is budget memory and not exactly geared towards performance (and based on my experience with Kingston, more than likely doesn't overclock worth a damn either).

Just my thoughts anyways.

For some reason I found that rather amusing.

As for the memory, I'd try and get 2x1024 modules rather than 2x512, it'll be more beneficial in the long run.

My Bias obviously would be to spend the extra cash for the CPU,Video Card, and Memory I have. You have a couple other options as far as a AM2 socket Motherboard goes. The hard drive you are looking at and the rest of the stuff are fine. But like has already been mentioned, the CD burner is not necessary. :)

Well, why does my "X800XT" lag in Need for Speed: Most Wanted? He's going to want at least a 7600GS, if not a 7600GT.

That's a horrible computer... (No offense)

What's the purpose of the computer? Games? Programing?

Just tell us your needs and your budget and we'll try to give you something better.

Nope, I'm lying to you just so I can get over the minimum age requirement for this forum. I lie to everyone else too, because my wife's parents think it's so cool that a 35 year old man has a 24 year old wife.

I hope you weren't hoping to insult me, because grade school tactics don't exactly ruffle my feathers. The last time I saw your tactics used I damn near messed my diapers. Now..... Just play nice and go about your business, and this will all be water under the bridge. Ok? :)

You started all this mess now you want it to stop?

And seriously... You're acting like 14.

And I don't know what kind of person actually takes offense from something said in a computer forum.

You know, I tried to explain it to you. If you weren't ignorant to that guy, we wouldn't be here right now. You post this super rig, bragging that you can afford it, then come here and completely slam somebody else because it's not as good. That, my friend, is ignorant. Paint it with whatever brush you like.

And seriously... You're acting like 14.

Hmm. I'll consider the source and take it for what it's worth. Do you have change for a penny? lol :D

I don't take offense, trust me. You are but a burr in a saddle. I have seen much worse on forums than you. And questioning somebody's age? You really think that's a mature tactic? You want to talk about a 14 year old's tactic, there's a classic example. That's usually the last resort of people that have run out of valid arguments.

Anyways, this is who I am. When you become of age we can have a beer:

Now. I'm not going to participate in the hijacking of this thread or any other any more. If you want to ramble on, feel free. But I'm going now.

See that, all the way on the horizon, no not that, the one next to it.... Yeh, that tiny spec in the distance. THATS THE TOPIC IN HAND!!!!

Back on topic please. Settle your disputes elsewhere and not in this poor guys thread
