Firefox - saving a webpage - 2 questions

I used to save websites in internet explorer and I would choose the "single .mht file" option.

That would basically save a snapshot of the page as a single file, but with pictures and everything. In firefox, I don't find an option like this. I either have to save the complete page (meaning a file plus a folder with all the extra stuff) or I save it as a single html file, but then none of the pictures are saved.

And here is question 2.
Is there a firefox way to "send link/shortcut to desktop" like in IE? I also noticed that IE7 no longer has this option. Sometimes you don't want to save a link in your bookmarks, but you just want to create a shortcut to that link and have it sit on your desktop for a couple of days before you trash it. The File > send > shortcut to desktop ..... in IE6 was pretty handy for that.

You can drag the "E" icon off of the address bar to the desktop while in FireFox. But it will automatically open the default browser which on most systems is IE. You would have to set FireFox as the default there.

Thanks PC eye. That works the best so far. A bit of a pain to have to make my firefox window smaller in order to drag into the desktop, but it does the job better than anything I have tried so far.

Any ideas on my other question about saving a webpage as a single file but with all the pictures?
