I wanted to bridge a Geforce 7800 GTX and a Geforce 7950, but I didn't know if it was possible because the GPUs are different. Is it possible?
 
And thus, the greatest con of SLi......

This is why some people choose to go the Crossfire route.... You can use two different GPUs in a Crossfire setup..... I think....

yea.. the downside tough... the 2 different GPU's will both run at the 'settings' of the slowest GPU.. rendering getting a faster card for a Crossfire setup useles too imo :)
 
so how much more effective would it be to buy another Geforce 7800 GTX and bridge it instead of throwing out the 7800 GTX for a 7950?
 
The GX2 should be slightly faster, although not enormously so. Current retail prices for 7800GTXs are quite high, you'll likely find that selling the GTX and buying a GX2 is the cheaper option.

First, we should find out if he's talking about the 7950GT, or the 7950GX2...
