Im buying a laptop for average gaming and word processing....
Im going to be playing mostly games like aoe3 and other rts...

Heres my concern:
The laptop comes with a 256MB nVidia Geforce GO 7600

I can upgrade to a 512MB version for $125....

is it worth it?
Won't games play pretty fine at 256MB?

Thx

EDIT: I have another question. I am thinking of sticking with an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU @ 1.83 GHz.
I can upgrade to 2GHz...but does it matter? its another $100 upgrade that I think I don't need, but want some feedback first :)

THX!

I never seen a laptop vid card before, it is bec the only thing you can upgrade a laptop is memory and the hard disk.
Dude, what the hell are you trying to say?

I assume you're having that laptop build somewhere and you have the choice between the two cards? Because I honestly beleive a 512M 7600 would be quite a waste. Esically a laptop version, as I beleive the 7900GT for a laptop is about equal to a 7600GT desktop model. I don't know where the 7600 would stand, but just giving an example of the power difference.

I don't think a desktop 7600GT could ever really utilize more than 256MB, much less a laptop version.

I think 1.8GHz would be fine. Maybe you could look around for some bench marks and see if there's a real difference in the processors, but I don't think there would be.

I admit I have not seen a video card for laptop:P

the 512Mb version would be a waste.. the card would have much benefit from it. as for the processor,.. the 1.8GHz on will be more than enough for that game,. and also keep in mind,.. the extra speed of the processor will drain more power,.. so the battery would be depleted faster.

My oppinion, (it's what i would choose. :) ) so you really dont have to agree with me ofcourse.
