core 2 duo is intels first series of 64bit processors, pentium D is 32 bit architecture
ya sorry, i meant that the core 2 duo was the first core duo 64 bit processor, the original core duo is 32bit.
There are 64-bit Core Duo's as well.
Which of these do you think i should go for? i think core duo is better but my budget allows only for approximate $150 for the Processor. please help me out here.

Article? I was not aware that CD supported 64-bit extensions. This was one reason the C2D was so widely waited on in the Laptop community was it would be the Intel 64-bit dual core solution if they could only wait for it to release.
All the folks on the board I was on must be kicking themselves that they bought Turion X2's in stead.
