When I try to load Oblivion onto my computer, it goes through everything fine, then at the end, when i click "finish", a window popup says something about a transfer error, and when i hit ok(the only option) it closes out the loading wizard. It already worked on my other computer, but i had to take it off because it lagged to much, so i got some more memory, and tried to download it, and this happened. what sould i do? is it a problem with my PC?

Which Video Card have you got, I can't see one from the list.

Drivers are software that do all the communications between your hardware and games etc. When you install your card you must install the software (drivers) for that card. As time passes it's a good idea to update those drivers as they will add support for newer games etc. Your card is very low for a game like Oblivion and will have trouble running it. It's best to give it any edge you can and update those drivers. Have you tried reinstalling the game? sometimes that may help.

ive tried installing it several times. i dont think its graphics problem, because the game wont download onto my computer. when it gets to the end, is says something about a transfer error.

Honestly, I wouldn't waste my time with trying to install it. If you have an FX5200, the game really won't be playable.

Well now I'm just confused. You say you've tried installing it several times but then you say you cannot get it to download onto your computer?

If you are downloading this game... where are you downloading it from? Now keep in mind that it had best be a legal purchased download.

sorry with the confusion, i ment to say install, but for some reason i couldnt think of the right word.:/ it finally installed, but now when it starts up, it gives me an error message, so i think it is the video card.what video card should i get if i want to play? cheapest thatle work well(pci, anyone know if anything else will work on a dell diminsion 4600?) , it does not have to be mind blowingly fast.

To find out what your graphics are you can click on "Start" menu, click "Run" then type in "dxdiag" (without the quotes). Under the "Display" tab will be the information for your graphics. Once that is determined then we can worry about updating those drivers. You wont want to use a CD that you have, you'll want to download the latest.

when i did that it said that i still had the integrated graphics from my origional comp. where do i plug in my monitor, the slots in the video card, or the normal slot? my monitor only seems to work in the origional one. god i feel dumb.

Please help me understand.... I'm really confused (a tad frusterated). Did you now take that quote from an entirely different thread?

One little bit of advice I can offer is as follows: You can purchase higher end PCI graphics cards then what you have, there are just none that will give you a good experience. I don't enjoy Oblivion on my Nvidia 6800GT 8X AGP because I have to turn down the graphics to get decent frame rates.

yeah, sorry, i got if from the sims thread.http://www.computerforum.com/60721-sims.html

It's not really a big deal... It just took me a minute to figure out why I would say that in this thread. When I checked back and did not find it, I then spent several minutes searching threads until I found it ;). Was frusterating... You should try not quoting what people post in other threads like that (perhaps if you mention that it's from a diff thread). I'm only suggesting it because it can be confusing! :P. Anyhow no worries

As I said above

I say this because there are no PCI cards that offer that much more performance then what you are using now... If I'm wrong I'd be happy to be corrected.
