Good place to buy a Motherboard?

Compusa

Tigerdirect.com

Compusa is sold out of all Asus motherboards.

Tigerdirect has very limited choices, but it's good to hear they are reliable.

Can't believe Asus doesn't sell directly. Would that really be so hard?

I've been hearing some complaints on TigerDirect lately. Another place that usually offers a "slightly" better price then Tiger is mwave.com. They have an excellent return policy and except money orders as well as charge cards.

Depending on where you live, you can go to Fry's Electronics. They have some VERY good deals. A few months ago I picked up an Antec 500w Truepower 2.0 for $15. They always have their motherboards displayed in the store with the specs written down on a big yellow card, but their site is a different story...but good prices none the less.

Was that a True Power or Smart Power model there? The TP IIs come in 480w and 550w models unless the TP III has one. The NEO HE also has a 500w model.

One idea was to first pick out a model board and run a search on it. You will then find links like shopping.com, bizrate, nextag, and others where they list price comparisons between different online vendors. You can usually come up with a long list by going to some of those.

ya whats your issue with newegg, zipzoomfly.com is another good online store, very similar prices to newegg, normally a few dollars more but have free shipping so it ends up the same, I've used them a few times they are reliable.

Hmm...maybe it was a smart power. I need to take a look at the box...Yep, it was a smart power, but it was $15 none the less. The price on newegg is $70...

What type of problems?

http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Home.jsp

Someone here recently made the comments on that. I forgot just who stated some grievances but I keep finding their prices up higher then several other sites.

used to be googlegear, its where I got some of my stuff, and the other is Newegg.

Newegg is one of the lowest pricest vendors. The one annoying thing with them however is that each item is shipped out separately. is the frustration when you are waiting to finish up a build! Mwave and others ship all items at once. Watch out dealing with zip(off)zoomfly. A friend got burned on a few orders there. And you know he was....   over that!

One way to find a different vendor then newegg, TigerDirect, zipzoomfly, or nay other is to simply run a few searches on a specific product. You will easily find a ton of links in not time there. Your location can also make a difference on the type of search as well.
