Re-installing windows

For the last three years i have been using my parent's pc for everything: games, homework, music, videos, photos e.t.c. I have bought my new computer and i will transfer my photos (4gb) on to my new computer (i'm a photographer) and then wipe my stuff i don't want from my parent's computer, put it onto my new computer and then re-install windows on my parents old computer so it is back to factory speed. (it is damn slow atm- cause of me). So, all i have to do is wipe the harddrive- how do i do this, and re-install windows- how do i do this (i have the re-installation disc) and will it be back to factory speed?

cant guarentee it will go back to the speed that it was when u bought it. But more than likly ull see some sort of speed improvment.

To reinstall windows all you have to do is insert the instal cd and restart the computer. You will have to press a key (depending on the model of the pc) just look for something as its booting up that says something like boot options or boot menu and it will have a key assosiated with it. You hit the key specified and select boot from cd. Press any key when it tells you to. Then just follow the instructions on screen.
 
With the full installation disk in the drive you simply press F8 if the menu that comes up is the boot menu and not the Windows start menu or make sure that cd rom is set as the first device in the bios boot order. Once you see the option to either press "R" to repair Windows at the recovery console or press Enter to start the installation you press enter and wait for the next screen. When that comes up you be asked which drive/partition you wish to install Windows onto.

The option to delete the current partition by pressing "L" is also seen there. After highlighting the drive shown there and pressing the "L" key you will then press the "D" key on the next screen to confirm the deletion of the existing partition and return to the installation screen once that has been finished. Now you simply highlight the drive shown again and answer Y for yes when asked if you want the drive partitioned and formatted for the new installation.

The rest of it is waiting for the restart after all installation files have been copied and you are again prompted as the installation process begins for administrator's user name/password. the number of user accounts, the product key proceeding, and all other settings.

Just shove in the disc while in windows, and select the 'clean install' option...
