at pricewatch.com the P4 3.06 is $627 and the AthlonXP 3000+ is $623. I can't believe the P4 is only 4 bucks more than the Athlon. What ever happened to the days when AMD chips were half the price of Intel. If AMD wants to keep their bang-for-the-buck fans they need to cut costs big time. - by MingIsBack"

thats from a site... i mean... wow... and thoes werent even the best of thier time... people complain about the 4800+ being expensive at $280 and even the FX57 being expensive... i mean dayum... you can almost pick up an FX60 for that price

EDIT:
just looked, you can pick an FX60 up for LESS of that

Athlon XP 3000, that was just yesterday!!;) A 166MHZ pentium I was about 750 when they came out!!

I only got into computers when Athlon XP's were just getting old. Things were expensive back in those days too, eh...

Rambo. :)

My first computer cost about £2000 (est. $3000)

I think it had a 133Mhz pentium, 8mb of ram, and 2 gigabytes of hard drive space.

The huge mainframe computers NASA used to put man on the moon are now superseded by PDA’s.

The thing I loved about the ‘old days’ was that everyone was still learning. I remember attending a seminar on something called the ‘internet’, and my Dad asking how the size of the internet compared to Britannica encyclopaedia.

Now it seems as though everyone’s an expert.
