HI All,
I am new to this Forum... I would like to know if i can find help in here for the problem I have...
I have Compaq Machine,Win XP…. the window didn't start, when I turn on the computer, it just takes me to "Window Advanced Options Menu" which where I have to choose one of the 4 options: Safe Mode, and others … I tried each one but window didn’t start, I thought I have a bad Hard drive, I got new hard drive now and select same jumper sitting with old (broking) one but window don't start, it saying ((a disk read error occurred press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart)), I tried them but it keeps getting back to the same error message..any help?

you will have to install windows on the new drive did you make a recovery disk with the software you got on the pc

You could have either a bad cable needing replacement, weak battery seeing the loss of cmos/bios programming information, or a faling bios chip. The last sounds the least likely there. With the new drive you may have to change from the master to cable select if you are trying to run both drives. The first thing to try there would a new cable for the new drive. Once Windows is up and running you could slave the old drive to recovery files from it.
