hey if in Each memory slot in my computer can hold:
DDR2 PC2-4200,DDR2 PC2-5300,DDR2 PC2-6400 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.
and I have right now a PC2-4200 and i want to buy a PC2-6400 at what speed would it go the PC2-6400 with the PC2-4200?

Oh and does the Heat Spreader works for real? or its just design?

the ram will always be clocked at the lowest speed of any ram in the system (without overclocking.... )

effect varies, but on ddr2 they are more common, and a little more effective

Oh alright thanks .

oh and can you tell me which brands are good?, im not planning to OC memory
Corsair
Mushkin
GEIL
Kingston
GSkill

you dont need anything faster than ddr2 533 because your fsb is 1066mhz... ddr533 would be just as fast as your fsb. if you're overclocking then id get ddr2 667 (CL3 or 4) or ddr2 800 (CL4 or 5)

im gonna do my own testing because i think the cas latency will bottleneck a little bit when it comes to frequency/fsb
i bought ddr2 667 4-4-4-12 1.8V patriot memory... i plan on overclocking that to ddr2 1000 though, since other people have done it. ill have to do testing though, the heat spreader is real nice on my kit... its the slotted type with higher surface area...
i'll have to raise voltage and loosen timings but i hope i can get it to ddr2 1000 :)
