well,
whenever I download big MPG or AVI files around 120 mb to 200mb which can be a movie or a TV show, it suppose to be at least 45 minutes, and for some reason, all my movies are cut down to :55 seconds whenever I play them. I downloaded on my other computer and it plays the normal 45 minutes. One of my computer always cuts it down to 55 seconds for some reason, for Big files. I don't know why? does anyone know what the problem is with my computer? I redownloaded the files, but it stills cuts the size down. i don't understand why my computer is doing that. please help

thanks in advance

Discussing illegal downloading is against the Forum Rules. That's any copyrighted material being distributed. You'll have to provide evidence that you've downloaded these movies and tv shows legitimately.

no one said it was copyrighted material.

I would look at ad aware, and avast and the like, or avg for free scan software. Google things that you don't know or look suspicious.

TV Shows are by definition copyrighted. Saying 'movie' could mean either, but saying 'TV shows' is specific. I would be careful about your next post.

here is lies the question. What is the difference from DVR'ing a tv show or downloading a TV show. Technically it is only really illegal if its a premium channel or if you are rebroadcasting and charging money for it.

However, I am not sure of exactly copy right law works since it is constantly changing with technology.

There are also web episodes which are copy right free, how do you think stuff legally shows up on youtube?

I'm not going to get into a debate with you over copyright. I'll say this once and then let the issue rest. I hope you do the same. Technically speaking you aren't allowed to use a VCR to tape something on TV, but people do. Downloading a show from the internet is illegal because you're free of the license fee you may have to pay, or the advertising that the broadcaster relies on for revenue for further program making. The episodes that appear on sites such as youtube are illegally put there, as well, and if you watch the news you may realise that networks are up in arms over this very issue. Just because they're there, doesn't mean they're legally there, but as soon as youtube takes responsibility for policing what is an open-source site, then it opens a whole can of worms for them legally, and forces them to police EVERYTHING, which on a site like youtube would cost the site profits.

If you want to debate this further, PM me. Otherwise, let it lie, and don't offer any more help until we have established where he got the files from. If you ignore that, you'll be given a warning or an infraction.
