The last bit and I need your advice

Well they look identically specced to me, I can't vouch for reliability in manufacturing, but I own the TWINX2048 and have them in my system atm. I'm very happy with them.

Edit: I've just realised that's a 1GB stick on its own, the TWINX2048 is 2 sticks of 1GB. Make sure you don't order the wrong one. :)

Given that the TWINX2048 is a lot more money than you bargained for, are you back looking at 1GB Dual Channel Kits? Because the the equivelent in 1GB would be this, although at Scan it's on Pre-Order.

I wasn't trying to be facetious, I just wasn't sure what you were looking to spend max...

No I just relized what you said.

£215 is out of my budget. I might settle for the 1024Mb (512x2) or should I get a cheap 2x1024 set?

Oh toooo many choises. Please help me

Okay, well lets break it down to:

1. Are you looking to overclock the memory?
2. Are the cheap 2x1024's the same timings as the more expensive?
3. Is speed i.e. timings important to you (it seems so by your above choices)
4. Are you planning on running Vista on this build when it's complete?

More provisos may come to me, but those will do for starters. :P

Okay, well based on the above I don't see why you can't or shouldn't get a cheaper 2GB set. You ought to have 2GB to make your system futureproof with Vista. Just make sure the manufacturer is reputable. In fact I just found this. I couldn't find a place to beat that price/specs bundle, although I can't vouch for the vendor. What do you think about that?

Nope, I tried buying RAM from PC World before, they never show the timings, which are in many respects as important as rating in hz. So you never know what you're getting, but probably they're not worth considering. Look for the 4 numbers along with the product info, in the above case 2-3-3-6. The lower the numbers, the better, the first being the most important, and 2 being the best you'll find.
