New computer help please.

Getting a new PC and I need to know what is a good setup?
This is what I am thinking,
4 giga memory, a pentium dual processor(What is the size of the best and latest processor), 500 giga hard drive and a 512mega graphic card.

Is there anything that I should know before buying?

BTW, I am not really commputer orientated, but I need it to process photos in photoshop.

Well the best proccessor youd want to get is one of the core 2 duo.

I dont see u needing 4 gigs of ram though. 2 gigs would be enough. You could definently put the money into something else you actually need. Any more than 2 gigs and you wont see a difference. most people dont see much of a difference going from 1 to 2 gigs

which btw if you post a budget up then u can have people give you build suggestions
 
That is what I am told about the RAM, but I figured 4 is better than 2 gig's?
I don't have a budget, so I am not limited there.

wow, unlimited budget....must be nice

well, i guess just make sure all the peices you get to your PC puzzle are all of highest speed...SATA hd's so on and so forth, a motherboard that supports high ram speeds.

i say if you can get 4 gigs, go for it

the more the merry, it wont hurt., make sure to have the best of cooling.
and you should be all set.

matter a fact, send me the money, tell me what parts you need, i'll order and build for a small lump sum :P

Well hell if you dont have a budget then go for it. Wont hurt just means u wont need to upgrade for a good while. Just make sure you dont overlook getting a good processor mb and vid card. Recomend a core 2 duo for the proccesor. Well if u dont have a budget might as well get the core 2 extremes ;)
 
Thanks Guys. I know its bad not having a budget.:o I am not building the computer myself, but getting a friend to do it and he has been suggesting all sorts of stuff for me. I just wanted to do a little bit of my own research(through you guys! LOL):P

With the vidio card, what is the best there is, as my main gaol is photoprocessing , so I want the best there is on this particular component.

I think ud be fine just sticking with a dual core. Either the AM2 or the Core 2 duo. Thats all ud really need for photoshop and few games.
