I want a computer that will handle all next gen games like a breeze. I know it is not the most powerful system but it's affordable and on sale.

And I'm not experienced enough to build my own computer.

I would really like a Conroe, but I can't find a desktop with Conroe in stores.

It's got 2 GB of Ram also, and I can buy a seperate graphics card.

I found another, it's a better computer, but more expensive, maybe if it goes on sale I will buy it.

Which one of these should I go for, or are neither of them good buys?
Any other advice is appreciated.
Thanks.

second one has an AM2 processor which is also a LOT better then the first processor, DDR2 RAM and better integrated graphics...

Even for the $230.05 more the overall specifications and newer board type and memory would be the best move between those two HP models. The 4200+ X2 model cpu is a good gaming cpu for ocing however. The main problem here however is the lack of specifications and a detailed overview on the first link.

Does it also have a similar software and hardware package besides the board type and model cpu? The newer board and faster cpu along with 2gb of ram can easily make up for the difference in price alone.

ouch!! u wont a computer that can handle all the l8est games etc. . . these comps hav decent cpu's and ram but they lack real bad in the graphics area try a non brand make they r abit cheaper and hav better specs. good luck!

The first one's refurbished, too. Probably won't get as good of a deal on the second one, but definitely with any of these, you need to consider buying a vid card on top of it to really have it be a viable gaming computer...

You know it takes far more then just a great video card to put a "real" high end gaming case together. What good is a $500 valued card with 2gb of ram and nothing else to really work with? The AM2 is the one that will have more options in six months from now.

Also they are HP meaning the have partitioned drives, so its a real bugger to get rid of that, also overall stay away from HP's they have a great set up, but the way they tamper with xp and adware and spyware and such, i'd stay away from that, if you can find a prebuilt system and a local computer store (not a nationwide retailer youd be fine there,) but the specs are great just bad maker

If you think HP is bad just run an eMachines for a good stretch. You'll wish you had gone with the HP instead real fast there. :P Dell has "their own thing" for selling only "their stuff". One option of course would be to order a prebuilt custom case according to your budget but not from Alienware. Their prices run from like $3,200 to $6,000
