Hey people,

I saw this on Youtube which offers you 1Gb of online storage for free.

Is this a scam or realy free because ive been looking for something like this for a long time so i can store my wordpad files and other important stuff just incase my hard drive dies on me.

Here,s the clip...

I hope this doesnt look like im spamming,Ive been a member of the forums for quite a while and i know the rules so please dont consider this as spamming because that isnt what i intend to do.

I just simply wonna know if this is genuine and if anyone has tried it.

Thanks

Why not just purchase a 1gb USB memory stick? I mean, it's safer in the sense of hacking, security, failure of hardware etc? Or burn them to a cd/dvd? I personally never trust anything like that myself.

Well yeah that would be a good alternative,

The info i would store wouldnt be anything thats realy important or valuable info.

Infact it would just be my sisters coursework which she also keeps on the schools computer and maybe a few setup files so i dont have to re-download them if i reformat my machine.

Anyway if my account was to be hacked surely they would have a backup of somesort to rollback?

Wouldn't it be easier to just sign up for a google email account, get her and yourself to email to that account your work, and store it there giving her and you the info to access it? That way you get the benefit of a central storage of your word files as well as over 2gb of storage without the hassle of signing up for some alien website.

If you want an invite for one, I have plenty.

wow i didnt know google email account gives you 2Gb:D

Ive actualy alreaady been invited by my friend but i havnt set it up yet,Thanks for the offer though bro.

Im gonna set it it.

Thanks;)

Well, at the bottom of my account it reads:

Your welcome :)

ooh great,Does it allow you to store setup files like Antivirus and stuff?

Just saves me downloading em all again if you know what i mean.

Well, the only problem with that is they limit you to something like 10mb per attachment, which to some people is a problem, but not for me. This would prove to be a problem for you though, if that's what you want to store. So I don't think it's possible. So if you want to store stuff like that as well, then you should look back into that thing on youtube, but personally, I've always been iffy on sites like that.

alright,

Soppose il use google to store my sisters files and later invest in one of those 1Gb pen drives like you said.

Thanks for your help bro;)

Greatly appreciated.

You might want to check the attachment size limit, as I'm not entirely certain it is 10mb, it could be more. You should be able to break it down into adequate sizes for attachments, I never thought of that :)

it's not just about compressing
it's about splitting
say you have a 50 mb file and you want to upload it
you can split the file into five 10 mb files (or ten 5 mb files, it's up to you ) and upload them into a folder
then if you want to use the file simply put the 5 files together in a folder and extract anyone of them.

hmm yeah good idea...Il have to try it out.

i mean it would be great doing that is say the thing i wanted to upload was about 60Mb but with anything larger like 150mb or more wouldnt it take forever to split em and upload them all:confused: :D

Its a good idea but i think it would get ver annoying if i kept having to do that.

Im definatly gonna have to invest in a 1Gb Pen drive:D

Thanks;)
