CD material won't appear on the screen

I have a CD that comes with a textbook, but when I put it into my computer, it won't produce anything.

Other CDs that come with textbooks have worked fine.

What might be the problem - and - what can I do to make use of the CD

It says on the CD: Optimized for Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and for Windows 98 or newer and Power Macintosh

(I tried the http that's included on the CD, but it doesn't produce anything either)

Any ideas?

what format is the textbook in? do you have the proper program installed to view the format?

You can just go to My Computer, then click on the cd drive to open it if it doesn't run automatically.

the textbook is just a regular - ordinary printed hardcover book, with a CD inside (with links to a bunch of resources, practice questions) - so is that what you meant by format?

How would I know about the proper program to view the format - not sure what is meant.

I'll try the idea of going into My Computer as suggested and see what happens

- update: it worked by going to My Computer and clicking on the icon for this particular CD, now I can get through to all the material.
Thanks for helping
