Restore points keep self-deleting

I've noticed that over the last few weeks or so, all my system restore points keep deleting themselves for some reason. I went back to see how many restore points were made and to my surprise, there were none! Under "system restore settings" the box for "turn off system restore on all drives" is unchecked. The disk space to use is set at the maximum 12%. I have only used about 30GB of 120GB so space is not the issue. Anybody got any ideas why I have no restoration points? I have noticed in the past like when I am making some kind of change to the computer and I make a restore point to be safe, that there were only one or two points usualy for that day or the day before. Everything else gets deleted or something, but there is always at least one there. The computer made one for today at around 5:30 but it's gone as they all are gone. I just made a current restore point just now and it is listed. Closed the program down and looked again and 1 restore point is available. I can make a restore point but it will be deleted in the future for some unknown reason. I've tried checking the box for "turn off system restore on all drives" then re-boot and uncheck the box, make a restore point and it gets deleted. I'm virus free from Kaspersky, and Panda online scans, as well and E-Trust EZ antivirus. I'm adware/malware free from Spybot SD, Adaware SE, Ewido, A-Squared, and Pest Patrol scans. I run CCleaner and Registry Mechanic periodically as well. Can someone please help resolve this problem? I hope someone can help cause I don't like not having any restore points to go back to if I mess something up. Thanks in advance:)
 
The maximum set for system restore is 12%, which would be around 14GB. Once you go over that limit, it automatically deletes the older points.

Isn't the 12% for the storage of restore points? Not the amount of used space on the HDD. I have o% of space used in system restore. Once you do have enough saved restore points that equals 12% of the total space available on the HDD, doesn't it then only delete the oldest points to keep the space at 12%? It shouldn't delete all restore points, does it? I can't keep any system restore point at all. Sooner or later they ALL disappear:mad: It's very irratating to be able to make one only to check back at a later time and find it gone.

Yes, the 12% is just for the restore points, so you should have around 14GB of space allocated for restore points.

I think there has been a confusion, because I was thinking that the oldest points were being deleted, which would make sense. But you're saying that sometimes all the points are erased?

Yes, all my restore points are being erased. There are no restore points in my system restore. The one I made yesterday is still there but it will be erased eventually like all the others. I make one and sooner or later it is deleted some how. I just don't know why they can be made, show as listed and ready to be used and then all of a sudden hours or a couple of days later be gone for no reason I can figure out. Interesting I know:confused:
 
OK, I now know why my restore points are being deleted. After checking eventvwr.msc/system/source I found similar entries for errors that pertained to sr. Here's the log file:

The 'Q3.DIR' is a Quicken account file. The 'LxrJD31ml' is a Lexar jump drive. Everytime that I back-up my quicken files to this drive it deletes all my restore points. I just made an entry in quicken and backed it up to the jump drive and the restore point I made just before that was gone as was all previous ones. THAT'S THE PROBLEM. Now how can this be fixed? I need someone to show me just how good you are at fixing software problems/conflcts;) I have used other jump drives in the past and this has not happened. I like this one because it is password protected. I feel beter now just knowing what is causing the problem but I would feel even better to keep this from happening all together;)
 
maybe somehow windows is confusing quicken's backup with it's own. have you checked the settings for each program? i don't know, have you tried running quicken from a different partition than your os?
 
i meant the save/backup settings for quicken and system restore. has this always happened or has it just started to do this?
 
yeah, i'd try installing quicken on a different partition than your os and see if that helps.
