nVidia 7900GS Overclock

Yea, you can overvolt that. But I thought you were talking about an actual voltmod on the GPU core....
 
This is getting to the far edges of my knowledge area, but overvolting is just OCing the PCI-E bus, like you said. A voltmod would be actually modifying the GPU to draw more power, or something. I remember talking about that a while ago, or seeing something....or whatever. Idk....

I'm tired and confused....:(

Hmm. It isn't overclocking the PCI-E bus. It is altering the amount of voltage for the Core or the Memory specifically.

Yea, that's what I was thinking of....i think. :rolleyes:

AFAIK, overvolting the PCIe bus will have absolutely no affect on overclocking limits at all. I am about 60% sure of that answer.

lol my 7800gt runs 15C cooler in full load...
i put an nv silencer on it though, so it ought to.
thats a real nice overclock. my 7900gtx hit 702mhz core and 1780mhz memory. i mean, stable in games and 3dmark06...

That would be one beastly card, lol.:D I got my 7600GS to 631Mhz Core and 862Mhz Memory (400/800 stock) at one time, it ran quite hot (90C while running 3DMark06).
