i remember the first Longhorn Pro PDC release from MS i still have it.for those of u who dont know it's the Xp-lookalike except the theme is gray and there's a huge sidebar on the right...lol..
Anyways the download manager is this version is very good...I loved it except that activation is 60 days..I installed vista last night and it's download feature is still the same old crap.just showing u the piece of paper comming from the world to your folder,which by the way if ur network drop the download is corrupted...

I just wanna know why is MS so stoopid .longhorn had a good manager while vista now, sucks a**. any place where i can actually post thread where actually MS would see themselves ..like a forum or so !

I doubt Microsoft will see this thread, lol. I do vaguely remember the Longhorn beta with its gray taskbar and sidebar, but I don't remember the download manager. Isn't the one in the new RC1/2 the IE7 download manager?

Then you are missing out. IE7 is not that bad, and remember, there are other internet explorers (Firefox, Opera, etc.) that have great download managers that dont corrupt the files. You arent tied to IE6.

Ya, Firefox with the Downthemall! extention is really great, Downthemall's download manager is really intuitive.

no ive opera 9.2 and firefox beta 2 on my pc ..i dont have probs with them. i have probs with IE7...why the lame downloader ?

i expexted at least a little menu where u can pause/resume the file but i guess not.Microsoft just dont get it do they !

I disagre with you, Firefox and Opera don't have great download managers because they always corrupt the files,

I use free download manger (FDM), it is much better and it can integrate it self to firefox.

But if have unstable internet connection, like the one I have, then it will corrupt the files. But with FDM it will not corrupt.

Then it is your internet connection, you cant really blame the browsers, as they need a good connection anyways. They work great on any good connection.
