Why does everyone hate dell PCs?

I've seen a lot of threads with hatred for dell computers, i brought a brand new dell Dimension desktop PC with reasonably good specs for £500 last month and i haven't had any problems with it or with the customer services. It even plays all of my PC games like flight Sim x perfectly well. So why are people hating dell?

Dell just uses cheap, low end parts and they load there computers full of free trials that bug the hell out of us.

Friends Don't Let Friends Buy Dells. but yeah i never have had a dell i would only buy a dell if i was needing a laptop.

They are very expensive. For the same price, you could get a custom built PS with much better specs. Also, Overclocking capabilities are ZERO

We don't necessarily hate Dells, we just prefer homebuilt because we can get better comps for cheaper prices, and also because there is more flexibility (OC'ing, etc).

let's just say they aren't ideal for advanced users. Some people like to customize more or less, and others have never opened a computer in their life and they would like to keep it that way. Dells are better for the latter.

I just don't like the Company and how they conduct their services. also they are almost dishonest when buyingsomething from them online. will tell you they have the item in stock get your creditcard number quickly charge it full price and you wait forever for the item to arive. Then after e-mailing them with no reply now your calling them and finding out the item is on backorder. Your credit card has been charged and you have nothing to show for it. This is what is known by many as "DELL HELL"

The reason I won't buy a Dell is custom motherboards and power supplies that are not replaceable by anything but Dell parts. You can't just walk into a CompUSA and pick up a new 400W PSU and pop it into your Dell; the wiring's all different, yet it looks the same as standard PSUs. To accept these weird PSUs, the mobos have custom power connectors. So replacing both of them at once when just one fails means you may as well build a new PC from scratch.

I worked on many Dell's at the hospital(that's all we got) Their laptops and PDAs were quite nice, but their PC's are horrible. For example, the IO pannel on the rear... You can easilly push the top ports(such as the LPT port) totally inside the case. It's quite difficult to connect a printer to it... And then I had to open about 10 new machines. Half of them had some hardware problem. Some where very minor, some wouldn't even POST.

A lot of the Dell-hating comes from the same mindset as people that hate Microsoft for no reason, its a big company and people like hating big companies. Some people have good reason for disliking Dells (as OvenMaster said, they use proprietary parts, a big no-no). I don't hate them I just don't care for them for the same reason I don't care for any other manufactured comp, the reason being that I didn't build it. Also, Dells do put all that crapware on your system, you can uninstall it but I'd rather not have it in the first place. Dells are okay comps but people just seem to expect too much out of them, the XPS systems are great but like all high-end PCs that you buy from stores, they are overpriced. Of course the "Dude, you got a Dell" guy really ruined any "cool" image you might get form having a Dell. lol
