im talking about gaming...

It's hard to say, since that Turion is only a single core, while the Core Duo is a dual-core. I would most likely go with the Core Duo.

And the 1MB of cache is used to store data which is accessed often.

1.7ghz is plenty of speed for single threaded games, and dual core gives for higher performance in multi-threaded apps plus it doesnt use any extra power (maybe less with centrino) so id go with the core duo.
intel for the win on mobile technology... and now stationary with the core 2 duo... lol
