ive done my homework and googled everything i could

i have ASUS P4S-LA motherboard

the CPU -> 1.6ghz

i want to upgrade ...
which CPU to buy?


FSB??? could i use both 400 and 533 and up to how many ghz?

i noticed cache L1 and L2 to be 12KB+8KB and 512 kb.

my motherboard L1 and L2 are 8kb and 256.

is there a problem if i get this card ?

here the FSB is 400 ... so I cannot buy the CPU with 533 ?

ok pretty any socket 478 P4 CPU will work with pretty much any socket 478 MOBO

You never really know what's compatable with HP and other such systems. For example, most every Socket 939 board is compatable with X2 processors, but many of the Compaq/HP Socket 939 are NOT.

Now for your system. Don't even look at cache, at least for compatability. That makes absolutly no difference. If one processor has more than your current, GET IT! As for bus speed, the board said is supports 533MHz, so I'd guess that processor would do just fine. But as mentioned above, it's hard to really know :-/

yea i tried adding some ram to an emachine and it wouldnt post because it said system configuration has been changed. another one of the many reasons not to buy pre-built lol...
