when i finally got XP running on my computer i done a little bit of tweaking and by that i mean i got rid of the desktop background. i disbaled mouse effects and such and it was off one of the threads on here that i followed. thread it perfect and last time i done anything like that it was perfect also.

so here is my question. i changed the start menu bar thing at the bottom of the screen to classic mode so it goes all grey and gives you a little bit of performance. thing is when i boot up my comp theres times that it has went back to being blue and i have to change it. is there a reason of this and what can i do to prevent it? thanks and if you've got any questions just ask. :D

you have to hit apply and also it works on one account so if you go to another account you have to change it too if you need classic too.

i do hit apply every time and there is only one account. for instance the other day when i booted it was the blue XP bar and now when i booted today it was classic. its a funny problem that i would like to get rid of. no matter how same it is. thanks for help aswell! :D

You can save desktop profiles that will autoload on every boot into Windows. They are called desktop themes. After right clicking on the desktop and getting all settings; screen resolution, wallpaper, enabled or disabled screen saver, effects, classic or xp style, 3d ojects, etc. set the way you want them you save those by going to the "themes" tab and saving the current settings as a theme.

did you change it in system properties? select adjust for best performance.

have you tried creating and saving a desktop theme? Whenever you are finished with the display settings and have the desktop and 3D objects the way you want them you go back to the first tab and save a "Default" theme under a name you know will be the default settings. If you make changes and decide to save those you will have a different file name. Once you boot Windows and see the wrong settings simply go back into the themes, load the default theme, and click the apply button. Give that one a try.
