Unresponsive DVD Burner

I have had my LG DVD burner for quite some time and have been very happy with it until now.
Recently it stopped working. The drive will not eject, not only that, it doesn't try to eject (the motor doesn't turn). But however when I press the eject button the loading light on the front does flash. I have managed to get the drive open by sticking a pin in that little hole on the front, there is not disk inside and no other abstruction.

The only thing is that it hasn't been working since I had it's power supply cable out, but it is back in now. What could possibley cause this?? Is it fixable??

Thanks!

Oh, and I forgot to mention it does show up in My Computer.

Pull the IDE cable out and see if it'll do anything with just power. If it works normally, connect it again, perhaps even try another location on the cable, as slave, etc etc... But it's probably just a dead drive. That's not totally uncommon.

I have another addition to what I last said.
Last night when I turned my computer off I left the disktray halfway open.
When I turned my computer on this morning the computer pulled the disktray closed, but would not open again. This tells me one thing: that the drive is not dead and i think it could well be a viral problem, i am running a virus scan as we speak in the meantime anymore ideas???

Thanks!

You could try to unistall the IDE Channel that the drive is connected by going into the Device Manager. Then restart your pc it should automaticly reinstall the IDE Channel and see if it works.
