when i walk away from my 240 say 4 about 20 min., and come back, it will be really slow, like it was idling or something, is there a way 2 not have it do this? i noticed there was a entrie in task manager, something like System Idle Process, think that has something 2 do with this, can i diasble this?

The system idle process acts like its using all the unused clock cycles so the processor isnt under full load all the time. It's perfectly normal, and it's a good process to have.

I'm not sure why it would be slow, unless its just loaded with spyware and such.

How much available memory is there, and whats the CPU usage at after it's been sitting for 20 minutes?

i dont know how much memory is available, and when it's really slow it uses alot of the CPU..

i already scanned 4 infections, all clean..

Is that computer running XP? If so, just go to the task manager and you can see the actual CPU usage and free/used memory.

Try to take a screenshot of it when you first turn it on, then another one 20 minutes or so later, so we can see if something is eating up the RAM.

alright, i'll be back soon, i gotta turn it on, then i'll take a screenshot, then let it be idle 4 like 20 min. and take another screenshot..

almost positive thats not the problem man, here's a screenshot of the Processes right when it started up, i take another when it does the stupid slow crap:

If you could take a screenshot of the performance tab when you first startup, and when it gets real slow, that would help.

ok, well here's a pic of the Performance tab when it's regular speed, didnt let it sit long enough 4 it 2 be slow lol:

hmm, weird, i left my computer unused 4 about 2 hrs. come back, and it didint do the slow thing? i also have nothing running, just IE, maybe when i have AIM, like 3 tabs in IE, and speedfan all running, thats what makes it all slow?

I thought you were comparing it idle upon first boot, and after it was sitting for 20 minutes. Obviously if you have an internet browser, AIM, and other apps open on an XP machine with only 256MB of RAM, it's going to run very slow.

i just opened task manager, and started like clicking stuff in IE, and when it loads the cpu usage on system idle process drops 2 about 6-30, then when it's done loading it pops back up 2 around 90-96...

why is this? u know?
