What is wrong with this computer?

Well before I posted a thread about the bouncy firefox. Solved that. Now it's another crazy thing. The mouse.

The mouse cursor will be in a certain part of the screen. Whenever I move it, it will move away, but quickly snap back to that same point. It's like it's trapped there...

This is not the mouse, 3 different mice do exactly the same thing, and the mouse works fine on a different installation of windows (same computer)

What could possibly be wrong?
 
Is it wired or wireless? I've heard that XP has had some issues with wireless mice. It sounds like a software problem with the OS. Try going to the MS website and looking up the problems associated with mice and XP. There are a few trouble shooting articles written for both wireless and wired.
 
It is wireless, but a wired mouse (both PS/2 and USB) do the same thing. And it just started today, I have been using it just fine for the past few months.
 
Double-check "Snap To":
Control Panel -> Mouse -> Pointer Options tab -> make sure the "Snap To" box is unchecked.

Wow...ok I really feel like an idiot now. My desk was so messy that I couldn't see that my pen (digital) was sitting on top of my Wacom tablet.....lol i'm stupid. :rolleyes:
 
At least you fixed it, and for free, no less! What more can you ask for? Glad it's solved.
If you can't use a mouse don't forget that usually you can use the keyboard. It's tougher, but it will eventually get you where you gotta go. Logo key -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Mouse -> with combinations of the Tab, arrows, and Enter keys will do the trick.

Yes, I know how to do that, and actually I did get into the mouse properties without a mouse....but strangely enough, it didn't do anything. :rolleyes:

But thanks anyway. :)
