2.5" for an old laptop

some laptop HD's are different sizes, does it say the dimensions on that HD on Newegg?

All standard laptop drives today are 2.5", so that won't matter. The only incapatibility i can see would be that the old laptop of his uses another dimensioned harddrive and a non ATA-6 interface.

It's a standard interface(actually uses a little converter to connect to the board. Though we decided not to worry with it. The thing's too old... One of the ribbons broke when trying to work on it recently. I never powered it back up, but I'm quite sure it's for the mouse-stick. Also, the power plug is VERY loose... If a free, or very cheap 2.5" drive falls into my lap, I'll fix it up for her. Otherwise, we'll just hold off.
