I'm quite a techie, but not a hardware fixing, computer building, overclocking type techie. I'm more of a software kinda guy, but I need some hardware help:

I've had this computer for quite a while now, upwards of two years, and I'd like to do some upgrading. I don't know where to start, but I'd like to keep it under $100. Any ideas are helpful! I've got a guy who works on computers for a living and he can install any hardware I buy, so I have that covered.

1GB total of memory (your 2x256MB plus a 512MB stick you buy) wouldn't even cost you $60, and would help. Another upgrade would be to buy a bigger hard drive, if you are running out of space.

What do you do with this computer?

What do you do with this computer?

Some gaming (Call of Duty United Offensive, Doom3, and Flight Simulator X mainly), video editing, photo editing, schoolwork stuff in PowerPoint, Publisher, Word, and Excel, internet surfing and forums, and some various other stuff. Quite system intensive when I get to doing my video and PowerPoint stuff, not to mention Doom3 and FSX!

So, in your opinion, overall is it a pretty nice computer? How would you rate it performance wise? Does it suck, is it good? I'd just like to know hardware wise.

It's not terrible, but certinally not up to date. I don't know how much luck you'll have with those games. Ditch the 5200 and get a better GPU. More RAM's probably the best buy, but that GPU will hold you back...

I researched a bit and I can tell that my GPU is sucklicious. What would I want to get as an upgrade?
