The "Killer NIC" is it worth the $240?

Lag, a multilpayer worst nightmare. $240 = Killer NIC. Will it kill the enemy or your budget. Is it really worth getting?

No it wouldn't be worth it. All it does is prioritize game packets to produce a slightly lower ping, which doesnt make a huge difference to most people anyways. And you may get a 1-5fps boost depending on the game.

Spend that $240 (or even $110), on a better CPU or GPU.

Who knows. Maybe if I got one as a X-Mass Present. And for those of you who say X-Mass takes the Christ out of Christmas I'll have you know that X was a Roman Symbol for Christ. Oh and DONT TALK ABOUT WHAT I JUST SAID NO SENCE IN GETTING IN SILLY AURGUMENTS ABOUT RELIGION AND STOPPING THE THREAD. PLEASE!!! I just had to get the word out. You know what they say, Merry Chrisma-honica-wannsa.

wow! haha, you didn't even have to say that. I bet nobody would have said anything. :P Anyway I still wouldn't get it. I would ask for something else. ;)

Then what is a good NIC with a nice NPU for a low price with good reduction of CPU usage?

As far as I know the Killer NIC is the only one with its own dedicated NPU. But networking takes up so little resources on processors, especially multi-core ones, that you most likely wont notice a difference performance wise, and maybe only around 10-50ms lower ping.

I actually have seen a ton more good reviews then bad reviews, only one or two. Generally what I have seen is the card works wonders, and supposedly does a bit more then people think, and it bypasses the windows network stack.

Is it worth 240$? No. Does it improve more then people say? I think so. Look at a lot of the reviews.

IMO, unless the rest of your hardware is top of the line, then there is no point of this card, because you would see more of a improvement is spending that 240$ in getting other better hardware then this.

I completely agree.

I got a D-Link and it has its own processor, not that good of one but it still minimized LAG a lot. I just want to play games on MAX in single player and Multilayer.
