Changing a processor

Im getting a new X2 socket 939, what do i do to change it (i have a sempron 939) do i just take out the old sempron and socket in the new X2?? is that all i have to do? will the PC automatically recognize the new unit???

If the motherboard supports the X2, then yes, thats all you will have to do.

But don't you have to sometimes reinstall windows? And his is prebuild and he probably doesn't have the windows cd.

Changing the processor probably won't require a reinstall. It is mainly changing the motherboard that needs it.

i went from a single to a dual amd on my 939 board, and i didn't have to do anything but put it in.
