Hey guys, recently my close friend has passed away and his mother would like to get on his computer, but it is password protected and they can't figure it out. I dont know if you guys can help, but is there any way to access it other than just guessing the password? I understand if you guys can, but if so let me know, thanks.

First, sorry for your loss. I hope you are okay...

Second, it isn't against forum rules...it's against forum rules if he were trying to hack his friends computer.

I assume the computer is running windows xp? If so, then boot up into safe mode (press and hold F8 key while booting up) and see if there is an "administrator" account that is not password protected.

So this dude died right .....and his mother would like to go on his computer?

Something about this post seems wierd....Seems to me you just want to access someone elses computer without asking them.

Sorry,You might honestly be telling the trouth but it seems wierd.

How does that confuse you? If you died right now, you don't think your parents would want to go on your computer, so they could use it, and/or look through your files (remember, you're dead :P)

Okay never mind...Just ignore i said that.

Just looked like he thought of a good exuse to ask the question "How do i get into someones account" without making it obvious and breaking the forum rules.

Btw....My admin account is not password proected so they wouldnt need a password fyi.:)

the last think on your mind when you die was your mom going through your computer looking for your hidden porn....

It doesn't matter if your friend is dead, it doesn't matter if the pope is dead. Bypassing the passwording is illegal and against forum rules.

If you want the files, stick the hard drive into another computer.

Well, technically, if his friend was under 18 (which I am assuming he was), his computer legally belongs to his mom/parents, and therefor, she has every right to get into her computer.

Yes yes true,

However its still against the forum rules to ask in here.
