Question about AMD Operton's

generally, no.
in quake 4, yes. in newer games yes. but most games arent multi-threaded.
dual cpu or dual core? dual cpu can cost a lot of money... its not the best alternative.

Opteron isn't a gaming CPU anyways. I don't understand why you would waste your money. If you want real performance, ditch the AMD and get a Core2Duo.

man its people like you who are gonna put amd into the ground. we NEED amd to keep demand up for BOTH INTEL AND AMD or else amd will fail and there will be a proc monopoly. i for one am not so sure i want that to happen so i will keep buying amd. (i wont cry because i lose 3fps in games) and if you just wait, amd will be on top again soon.

But wouldn't AMD strive to create a better CPU if they realize that more people are recommending Intel CPUs? What's wrong with someone recommending a C2D anyways?...Then again...It sounds like your comment comes from a fanboyish origin...

I recommend AMD where appropriate. The X2 is marvellous for fanboys like yourself. AMD ROOLZ!!! The philosophy of those morons over at Madonion and Hard OCP. It doesn't matter that a C2D will smoke them for the same money. Ya gotta root for the underdog because you're a rebel without a cause.

The Opteron makes for a fantastic server and workstation CPU. Get dual Opterons in a graphics workstation and dual or quad Opterons in a server, each with several Gigabytes of RAM, and you have one kickass network. They are awesome to work on.

I recommend what works best for the application. I'm not one of these retards that roots for the likes of Linux and AMD because it's FTW and fight the system man!!!

or get a tyan cluster server with 8 dual core opteron cpu's...
that would be sick... 16 cores. INSANE
psc. personal supercomputer.

You have to forgive these intel fanboys, its the first time they have been out of their cave in about 5 years, the sun kinda makes them act funny!:P

I don't know why you would want to get rid of the amd 4000+ ,as I have one and in gaming it does fine.. no game really pushes it that much..I guess some people just have to be continously upgrading..
