People are retarded

When I first bought mine I was talking to some kid who worked at Wal-Mart and he was telling me how his quit working a day or two after he got it. I asked him what went wrong and he said it just shut off. He had it paused for 5-6 hours when he was at work and it was laying on the floor (carpeted) and it stopped working. I'm thinking it overheated, I really wanted to call the guy a retard, but I was nice and let him be. I have had mine in a well ventilated place and have never had any problems with it.

I also heard a rumor that Dead Rising would melt the processor if you played it for more than a few hours at a time.

OK, so we know it won't blow up. Good. As for catching on fire, still a possibility here.

I sincerely doubt that MS would send anything out that would catch on fire, and therefore be a safety risk that they could be sued over. Melting a processor or frying the video card/processor, maybe (and that's a huge maybe...). However, until when I see an actual bonefied, respected news source reporting these problems, I (and I suggest all the rest of you as well...) should treat rumors as just that, rumors.

A little off topic, did anyone see that article about how people are wrecking their TV's because the Wii controller is slipping out of their hands...Now that's something to worry about.

Side not, if your worried about you 360 catching on fire just buy a fire extinguisher as well.

That's why they had the recall.

yes if you are dumb enought to put papers on top of the gpu with the box open.

No if you don't do anything stupid or danger.

well any electrical unit can catch fire. my tv stopped working and i left it plugged in the wall and it started hissing then heaps of smoke came out of it so i guess you could call that catching fire. they cant literally blow up but people use that saying when something stops working. you could say that my tv blew up as well.
as for overheating issues i have one of those mini ps2s and i was playing san andreas on a really hot day and it froze the screen which is what computers do when they reach a certain temp

Rofl.

I have had my 360 since release.

11-22-05.

No.

They won't blow up, and I completely disagree with the whole heating issue.

As for catching on fire... nothing is around my xbox that is able to be burned, and my 360 isn't even that hot.
Ever.

well... If there were some serious issues with the 360,.. i think they would have been recalled already big-time, no? Besides, microsoft really couldnt afford releasing a crappy console, since with the xbox, they just entered the console marked, and if they want to stand a change to become really big in it, they just cant afford releasing something that doesnt work as intended =]

Well that's Microsoft. The get it out they mess up big time and have an update. Sadly you can't just download the worries away with this hardware. I think it could have been the triple core processor overheating causing deaths among the pause for 4 hour thing. They had a major recall soon after it came out. They also sold it at too low of a price and lost a lot of money so that's why the games cost so much. This is what I believe.

Normally what I would do in a situation like this (and many others) would go and get the proof I needed to convince everyone that what I'm saying is not just a lot of Bull.

As for the price issue. Many company's loose money with the hardware and try making it up with software. I believe Sony is loosing a fair bit on the PS3 at the moment.

I would really appreciate it if you could give us some good solid evidence on these major recalls that Microsoft had. It would also be real nice reading about those fires I'm hearing about in this thread. When we make large claims and fail to back them up, well we just look kind of silly.
