How Bad is Vista!?!?!!

From what I've seen, it looks nice, but, I have been told you need pretty much a gig of ram just for the OS. I konw that may have been an over statement, but is it really a big drain on the computer?

Also, my adivce to any and everybody who is going to get vista (I'm undecided) get it a good 6 months after its been released, that way microsoft has fixed up all the screw ups and stopped the idiotic hackers from dropping us all a nice chunky C drive cleaner.

Yeh, Vista can go to hell as far as im concerned... although I will probably end up getting it, since when did anybody care about the graphics of word... a program used for WRITING TEXT. To me they're trying to appear something they're not, if they're not careful, business's will get fed up of the PC requirments to run the stuff and will opt for Microsofts copmetitors. In my eyes, Vista is impressive, but not a helpful tool.

Its big and chunky. Whats the alternatives though?

I am guessing lot of businesses will only move onto another OS when the support for their existing one disappears. When you think about the cost of upgrading so many machines in big businesses, the're not going to be bothered about following popular trends.

I'll be an early adopting ginea pig. I'll be buying it when I get my income taxes back. I'll need it in preperation for Crysis and DX10.

I get it free from school and as far as i'm concerned if some idiot wants to try and find my home pc and get through all my firewalls let them its their own stupidity!

VISTA- Look wise beautiful, system wise- Bad enough as it eats up the memory.Vista is good for those who like graphics. For those who like a new look for their operating system. For me... Not my type. I dont find it impressive.

I will get it once I absolutely have to but until then, I stick with my "classic" skinned XP.

How are you going to get it for free ??

Are you getting a cracked version ?

Nope, I get it for free through my MSDNAA subscription at school :D

But most likely I wont use it for a primary OS because nVidia doesnt have Vista drivers for my GPU, and my mobo doesnt have Vista drivers either.

With the memory it devours and now that all games in the future made to run on Windows will be for Vista ONLY, Microsoft has pissed me off beyond reason. Those money grabbing sons o'......

wow you are so off on this one. The games for VISTA ONLY if there are any its due to the designers not microsoft. Plus the one game microsoft made so far for vista is Flight Simulator X and it works on xp as well. You really should read into facts before posting. I have vista and all of my games work on it as well as my xp machine.

Nvidia announced that they will try to have the G80 driver out for Vista soon (this month). If worse comes to worse then you will have to wait until January cause it should definitely be out by then.

I hope so, but I dont have any motherboard drivers which are compatible with Vista either, and I dont think nTune, SpeedFan, or ATI Tool work with it either.

I installed the beta 2 (build 5384)- and now I only make a *rare* boot into it. I should *probably* delete it... Free up 50 GB of space...

Vista consumes way too much RAM- both video and normal.

I much prefer Linux to Vista. With Linux, you get Xgl and Beryl, which are two programs that allow amazing 3-D effects- for FREE.
We've all probably seen Vista, but have we seen this?

And just for fun, I took another monitor and attached it. And despite the many horror stories about dual screens on Linux, I had it set up in about 15 minutes.

Not only does it look nicer than Vista, it's faster and uses a lot less RAM.
