hey everybody..! Im getting a new PC system, but Im still confused which CPU I should get.
how big is the difference between this intel C2D E6300 and a E6400 ??
thanks!

There isn't much difference, except the E6300 is 1.83Ghz vs. the E6400's 2.13Ghz. However, if you are planning on overclocking, there is a reason to get the E6400 because its higher multiplier. (Read Overclocking 101 for more info on that).

The speed difference is pretty great, and if you can afford the extra $36, I would highly recommend getting the E6400.

If you have the money get the E6400
If you don't, don't feel bad the E6300 is a good CPU

The e6300 is a great cpu! Ive got mine overclocked to 2.2Ghz, stock voltage atm, and ive had it upto 2.5Ghz but the temp got a bit high because im using stock cooling.

The E6300 is a great processor, I got mine up to 3.13Ghz, but I know someone who got their E6400 up to 3.54Ghz.

Then why arent you running it that high now?

And what voltage are you running at?

To be completely honest, I actually haven't been bothered to spend the time OCing it to be perfect (RAM settings, etc...). Obviously there were slight instabilities, but with improved BIOS rev's, I'm sure they will be gone by now.

My voltage right is currently 1.328v @ 3010 Mhz. :)

They're so easy to OC! What cooler do you have? I need ot get a new one so i can take it up some more.

I use the default stock cooler :P Honestly!

It idle's around ~30*C, and under load it's around ~40*C.

They are extremely easy to get to 3.0 Ghz though... :)
