So you want parts to build yourself a media center computer? Or do you want to buy a prebulit one?

If it's just for media center, then you should grab a passive cooled 7300gs or something. Also you would not need 2gb of ram for media center, and dont get pentium 4's, get something like a E6300.

Are you looking for a media center PC?

HP sells a few. There identical to desktop computers except they usually just have a different case. Any computer can be used to power a 30" LCD, as long as the computer and tv have a DVI, VGA, or HDMI port.

I have run my normal computer through the tele using a VGA cable.

But would like a media centre to go under the tele so it all looks good, would it be easyer to be a decent spec computer with a Tv card?

don't buy a prebuilt media center PC, they mostly all suck and you can build a better one for the same price. They have like micro formfactor parts which are proprietary, meaning if it ever breaks you have to pay a heft price to get replacement parts.

Then choose your OS, windows is an obvious answer but there are other, free options like:

If your TV uses DVI input, it might look a bit better, though the TV's resolution still holds it back.

And most companies charge alot more for a media center PC, then a desktop with the same parts. You may pay around $1000 for a PC you could build yourself for $500.
