Dammit, I still need Os, CPU, GPU, Mobo and a damn Case, broke right now but still a good start. I spent $586 and figure it'll cost me about $600 more for case / cpu / OS vista / mobo / gpu, right?
 
don't get vista... it won't be worth it... stick with XP for now...

as for the 600 bucks, depends on what parts you are gonna buy :P...
 
I'm thinking of purchasing the oem media center from newegg and upgrading for free to vista

WARNING: OEM is a pain in the ass... if you ever what to make major hardware changes to you computer, you may end up sitting on the phone with microsoft for hours to be able to install the OS on your computer with a different hardware setup... if you even get to in the end...

and vista still won't be worth it in my opinion... XP will be more secure for a long time after vista is released...
