I'm looking to buy a tv tuner. Are there any available that can record in 1080i from a cable TV input?
 
to get 1080i from cable you need a cable box

cable channels are too close together to have subchannel hd signals

you need an antenna, but yes there are tuners that can decode hd from an antenna

i own one, its absolutely perfect.
does HD and all, though i dont personally get n e channels in hd.
anything made by ati is perfect though. lol

you'd need a cable box with hdmi output, a video capture card with dvi in, and an hdmi to dvi cable.

i'd honestly get an hd timeshift box from my cable company if i were you

there's no cheap fix to do it with a computer, and stay digital
 
I see. So if I buy a TV tuner, and run my cable to it.....would I get all the channels I pay for in my package, or would only the few that are broadcast in analog show up?

Can I go DVI-out of the cable box...to DVI-in on the capture card....or would this not carry the HD signal?
