New Memory?

I have one question that is in a different direction.

Why does everyone buy 2.1v RAM for mobos that say "JEDEC supported 1.8v", and everyone tells me the motherboard might not POST if you use 2.1v, but EVERYONE does. Why?

2.1V RAM is usually performance DDR2-800. Depending on the brand it may have safe SPD settings so you can POST initially to change the settings. If it doesn't some companies will let you ship the RAM to them so they can put safe settings on for you (OCz did this a lot when people had no end of issues on 965 boards).

Because Performance DDR2-800 @ 4-4-4-12 usually needs 2.0-2.1V to operate.

It really depends on the BIOS you get. The 1.9V has a better chance but I can't say either one will work for sure. What I will say is get the RAM you want and if it doesn't work take it to a shop (or if you have some old cheap ddr2 lying around use that) and set your ram voltage higher and try the good stuff again.

They don't compare Kingston and Corsair. For DDR2, Corsair>Kingston.

Umm. I'm seriously hoping that you weren't trying to educate me there. lol. I know that Corsair will eat Kingston for breakfast. Heh. How much do you want to bet that Hyundai will eat Kingston? hahaha
