Hi guys, need a UK site/location that sells these
ati8.JPG

you normally get them with the all-in-wonder cards (eg this model i have is 9200 series).
Need to find one so i can output to TV
There is no S-video on the card only the 10 pin video output (for which the above converter will convert into s-video)

actually in the past I have successfully plugged in a s-video cable into that dongle connection on the back of the video card. The pin outs are the same. We just upgraded like 60 HP desktops with radeon cards that had the 10 pin connection out, and we directly hooked svideo into it and it worked. This was because the dongles came in a seperate box for some reason and it wasn't shipped the same day.

You may just want to try it and see if it works.

I have one just like it, but its not for audio. It has S-Video, Composite, and Component out. But i'll try to find you one of those.

if you could that would be great, i dont need the audio output. All i need is to get an S-vidoe output from the thing
I can run the audio from the soundcard
It's for a media centre i build out of old bits and bobs for xmas...for a friend

Which type of card is this for?

And I actually have a few because all of the video cards I buy come with one, but I never use it.

The pin out for the all in one dongle may be different but I just took a pic of the cards we are using. Notice the pin outs are different than just s-video.

@Tlarkin

The one you posted is the 7 pin output, the 9200 all-in-wonders have the 10 pin output, like

I looked on Ebuyer which is a UK site, didnt look on Dabs yet

break the plastic tab off the svideo cable and the pin outs should match. All that tab does is help secure the cable in the port. That would be a crude, fast, and very cheap work around until you actually get a new dongle.

I have such a cable that came with my MSI 7800GTX.. I'll have to look it up, but it had audio, video, S-video etc as outputs too.. :o

well i think if an ati and nvidia product had something interchangeable and it worked the world would come to a haulting end. I don't think we want to try that...

The pin outs are already there, 1, 3, 4, 7 which matches s-video. I say go ahead and just try it.

did you try just plugging it in, the pin outs are already there, the adapter could just easily be a pass through for all pin outs needed through various connections.

i tried, the diameter is different so even after ripping out the safety catch. I may be able to rip open the seam and expand the male part to fit the female... but would prefer not to ruin the current adapter i have (it is top notch and v expensive (20m) )

I could have stolen you one from a Radeon 9250 today at work, but unfortunately i was selling it to a customer, so taking it out of the box right in front of him would have been a bit obvious... I will check on Thursday when im back in work to see if there is any more up in the stockroom, if there is ill nab it for ya and send it first class all the way

*EDIT* - also, if push comes to chove, you know the pinouts, and grabbing a few s-video and composite plugs from maplins isnt a problem, so you could alway make your own one up very quickly, give it to the guy/girl for xmas, get it working, then spend some time sourcing a proper one

shame though, i just checked and we dont sell a 10 pin din plug, owuld have been sexy if we did would have been perfect, as a real DIY project, just get some of the stiff, ultra small equipment wire, using electrical taped and a bit of brute force ou could easily get a good connection to the plugs

dragon

*EDIT AGAIN* - Woudl the output cable for the 9800 series card be the same or at least work a bit...? because i may be able to get one of those for you.

huh maybe, was hoping for a more robust solution. I have a few possible sources. I just cant believe nowhere sells these. I mean you get them with lots of models of card.
