Could you do a Raid 1(the one where it makes a copy of everything on another HDD?) of a pair of Raid 0? Meaning yo have four HDD's
the best option for speed and backup would be a raid 5, which essentially takes two of your HDD's and makes thema raid 0, and then takes a third one as a backup, so if one of your drives fail, you can install a new one and be ok.![]()
basically you have the speed of raid 0, and the security of raid 1

so with my two raptors in raid 0 which equals like 69gigs, what HD would i need to back them up in RAID 5? does it just need to be bigger than 69 gigs? or could i even partition a section of my WD 200 gig HD that is used for storage for the RAID 5?
No, that RAID is called a RAID10/01/0+1/etc. RAID 5 uses 1/# drives (a fraction of the size of one disk) for backing up the other drives so you can lose 1 drive and still be able to get your data but if you lose 2 you're done, and you need at least 3 drives for it.[-0MEGA-];526328 said:Froboy7391_99 said:Could you do a Raid 1(the one where it makes a copy of everything on another HDD?) of a pair of Raid 0?
