Looking to buy a new motherboard

Hey guys I was just wondering if you all had any recomendations. I dont need all top of the line stuff, but I would like it to last for a little while. I am building a new computer for a project. I also have looked at new egg and other online stores but there is just to many types. So can someone nudge me in the right direction please? Thanks

Are you buying a new CPU as well, or do you already have a CPU you want to use?
 
well I will buy the cpu seperate from the mother board, at newegg I seen the combo's MB and CPU but in the reviews every 1 says that it would be way cheaper to buy seperate. I want to stick to AMD though, never been a fan of Intel. thanks

How much for the entire computer (not including your operating system or monitor, key, or mouse.)?
 
For HD, memory, Vid card, case, mother b. I am in the $1000 range, I have a 32" LCD TV I use as my monitor now so I am fine with that, I have tons of KB's and mice, so thats good, but yeah overall $1000 for a basic cpu.
