NV silencers

I was wondering... are the NVsilencers 5 rev3 (so,.. fitting for the 7800GTX) worth it? I mean, the stock cooling is sort of loud, but are these much better? how loud would 0,9Sone be in dB?

I have 1 more.// well.. maybe problem tough.

my bottom card only has 1 pci slot between the bottom of the case and the heatsink (the stock one) so a card that would take 2 physical slots would jsut fit in.. but would it get enough air to cool propperly?

It depends on how much wires and crap is down there, let me dig up one of the pics you posted of your PC.

edit: It'll be close, that's for sure. I suppose you could get 1 and check then if it is too close to the bottom you could move the card to the top slot and keep the stock cooler for the bottom one. And if it does have enough room you could get a 2nd.

or put some higher feet under the case,..make a hole in the bossom for it to draw air into the case (and i guess put a filter there )

but yea.. I think i'll do that.. I guess even if i replace only 1 it will be much better already

I would need the NVsilencer 5 rev3 tough,.. don't I? I mean.. my cards both have the VRAM on both sides of the card.. so i would ned that passive heatspreader for the back of the card too.

That's what I was thinking. Then, the upper card wouldn't be hot anymore from the lower card's exhaust.

well.. I dont have any heat issues atm. i have 2 fans in the side blowing cold air right onto the GPU-fans atm. true.. the CPU will be a bit hotter, because the air from the cards passes though that part of the case.. but Im notdoing it for better cooling,. just the noise actually.

Then the silencers are the way to go. When I had mine, I couldn't even hear it over my other fans when it was at 100%. If I turned all of my fans down to the slowest speed, then I could hear it a little. But then I just put it on a graduated fan speed, so it maxxed out whenever I was playing games, but was slow when I just was doing everyday tasks.

now I just need to be sure wich one i need.. there's so many of them around.. :x I looked a bit around.. and it looks like i need 5 rev3.. but like said.. Im not sure

wich one would be better you think?

The X1 has great reviews and will cool your cards while being silent, but they don't exhaust the air out of the case. So it is up to you whether you want hot air blowing on your motherboard (but having your graphics cards cool) or exhausting the air out of the case (but maybe not having it cool as well). I'm not going to recommend either one, other than the X1 is a much newer cooler that is redesigned with heatpipes, etc.

the X1's have an undertermined delivery date here.. :( and the shop where i usually buy my parts has 1 NV silencer 5 rev 3 in stock... so i think ill go pick that one up on my way home.. and try a bit,.. if it would fit onthe bottom card too.. i'll just get a second one

i have a huge intake fan in the front,. so i even think the bottom card would be cooled just fine if there is like 5mm -1 cm space between the fan and the bottom of the card. ah well... later on today i should know more.
