Pentium D vs. E6600

Right now I have a Pentium D 3hz, as I built this computer before the Core 2 Duo's came out. I was wondering if I upgraded to an E6600 (yes my MoBo will work with it) would there be much difference? I game almost everyday (Battlefield 2) and do some other thing such as back-up movies and burn them. would it be worth spending the cash and upgrading to it or would there not a big enough difference? Also does the E6600 run cooler or hoter then an pentium D?
 
The difference, especially in games, is pretty dramatic when switching to a Core 2 Duo. Although I would buy a better video card before buying a newer processor.
 
There wouldn't be a huge difference in gaming, but CD/DVD burning times would go down a bit. The E6600 runs cooler than the PD. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend it. Your processor is running fine right now, I'd wait a little until you really have a need to upgrade it, and prices are cheaper.

CD/DVD burning would go quicker? How can a faster processor make the drive record to the media faster? I think you mean if you rip, encode, or decode CD's and DVD's.
 
you said that i should upgrade my videocard before upgrading my processor, i was just wondering how would upgrading it affect anything as i can play all my game on high

Exactly, if you can play games on high now, why do you want to upgrade?

I said you should upgrade your video card because I was assuming you wanted to play the newer games on high to highest settings. I know you can play some new games on high, but not highest.

So does that mena that a 7600 GT is not very good for high-end gaming???
