PS3 vs. Hi end Gaming PC

OK, we all know that PS3 is one if not the best gaming consoles out there, but even with PS3 at its peek preformance, couldn't a Hi end Gaming PC (some whuch members of CF have such kind) beat the PS3?
 
I saw some racing game being played on a PS3 and I honestly was not impressed at all. From what I saw, the graphics or physics didn't look any better than say FlatOut 2.

Now, I'm sure later games will look better, but I'm certinally not getting a PS3 any time soon. I have yet to see anything on any console that's just amazingly better than what's out now.
 
If you had a QX6700, four or eight gigs of Corsair Dominator, that EVGA 680i board, two 8800GTXs in SLi, and two RAIDed 500Gb 7200RPM SATAIIs, then probably. (I know that you cant yet SLi the 8800.)
 
Yeah, right... I'm quite sure even a much lower end system could outperform a PS3. Besides, much of the performace(well for PCs) is from their GPU, not so much their CPU.

lol yes i was kidding. I would like to see the PS3 run Windows, and then the games.
 
What system componints can you get that would make borderline AKA just as good as PS3? What slight change would make it better?
 
I forget where i heard it (yeah i know thats no help) but apparently the ps3 has an equivelent of a Geforce 7800gtx

what're you talking about...a computer with like even less than half that can outdo a ps3.

A company in Finland is selling systems with two 8800GTX's in SLi.

What is R80 ???


The PS3 GPU is called RSX (Reality Synthesizer). The RSX is a 90nm GPU and it shares a lot of inner workings with NVIDIA 7800 which is based on G70 architecture.

The RSX GPU is clocked at 550MHz, which is faster than stock 7900GT, and the same as stock 7950GT.

The RSX has 128-bit memory bus width clocked at 1400MHz. This means that RSX has half of the memory bandwidth of stock 7950GT
 
Just buy a ps3 a xbox360 and a gaming pc. Since they all have their own special game like ps 3 got(DMC4, MGS4 and MH3). For me 360 is a must have since I'm dieharded fans of halo. And it will take forever for ms to convert halo3 to gaming pc lol until probably 2010. So screw pc for now lol.
 
yeah same here my mates at my college course are like no no consoles are way better than pc's are but i dont think theve actually played a proper pc game like half life 2 etc etc how do i make them come to there senses and show them up
