Hi, Im planning on building a system with the below components, but im really confused about the graphics cards that are available. I want the PC for gaming mostly and so i want a good card. However I'll only be using a 19" LCD monitor so i have been told that there will be no noticable difference between a 7950 GX2 Dual-GPU Graphics Card and a 8800GTS. The prices all seem to be fairly similar in the UK though. I am not sure of what difference the manufacturer makes but eVGA have been recommended to me. also what difference does the "Installed Size of the video memory" make beacause this:
Dual 1GB NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2 Dual-GPU Graphics Card
is nearly twice the price of this:
7950 GT OC nvidia Geforce 512MB SLI VIDEO CARD 7950GT.
is that because of the make, memory or just the vendor?

Here are the specs of my build to be:
Hard Drives 500 GB Samsung SATA 7200rpm 16MB cache Hard Drive oem + 36.7GB SCSI Seagate/ IBM Cheetah 15K RPM U320 80pin OEM ST336753LC 24P3732
DVD writer x2 Sony Black AW-G170AB2 Dual Layer 18X DVD+/-R/RW 12X DVD RAM Burner OEM
Processor Intel Quad Core QX6700 Extreme 4 x 2.66Ghz 8Mb Cache 1066 FSB Quad Core Processor
Processor Cooling Fan THERMALTAKE CL-P0310-01 BIGTYP 120 VX + 1x80 mm rear and 1x80mm front fans
Motherboard eVGA 122-CK-NF68 nForce 680i SLI (Socket 775) DDR2 Motherboard
Memory Modules OCZ® Platinum Series 2GB DDR2 PC6400 800Mhz, Dual Channel Kit with Platinum Heatspreader
Power Supply OCZ GameXStream 700W SLI Power Supply
Sound Card Sound Blaster Audigy SE/7.1 surround sound with EAX support , PCI sound card
OS Vista ultimate
Monitor AVIDAV LCD MONITOR 19" M1941DF DVI SIL/BLK

So basically to summarize: What is the best choice of graphics card for my pc, that wont defeat the point of having such high end components, while only being displayed on a 19" LCD?

Thankyou

Phyruss
ps: I live in England and so newegg.com will not ship to me.

I havn't asked about this before, its a different problem from the threads in other sections. People have commented about my choice of video card but i havnt posted a thread about it.

Is what he's referring to

You wont notice the difference atm, no matter if it was a 17" or a 23", but the 8800GTS has is a newer card with more advanced technologies... for instance directX 10

Well the GX2 is basically 2 of the 7950's so the "nearly twice the price" comes from that.

The 8800GTS. But if you're spending all that money on a pc, then you should think about upgrading the monitor to something that will make the game playing even better.

There are plenty of UK online stores (which also have one or two shops scattered round) that offer cut down prices from high street stores.

One card is a GX2, the other is a GT. The GX2 is basically two GPUs on the one card, hence the additional cost.

I'd favour the 8800GTS over the 7950GX2. The differences should become more apparent as DX10 games become available.

Thanks a lot, thats been really helpful. Im really sorry for posting twice. I didn't even realise i had posted. I coundn't find my thread in the video cards and monitors section so i assumed my pc had timed out, especially when it asked for my password. Thanks again for the help and ill try and be more careful nxt time :)
