Building a pretty cheap rig.

My sister wants me to build her a comp close to as good as mine is. I know nowadays thats gonna be alot cheaper than when i got it :( . Anyways she wants to spend like around $450 (U.S. dollars).

I put this together but im already at $450 and i still need to pick a PSU but i know absolutley nothing about them! Maybe someone could alter it a little and help find something cheaper that is about as good. It really doesnt have to be a great computer since all she does is internet, AIM, and music. Heres what i have so far. (tell me if anything is NOT compatible please).

Mobo: Biostar 939 (with onboard video) $70 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813138264
Case: Xion something $40 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811208009
HDD: WD 80gb $45 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822135106
RAM: Corsair 1gb $100 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145440
Processor: AMD athlon 3200+ $60 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103535
Windows: OEM version $90 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16832116056
CD: Any of them really $20 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?N=2010100005+1036506652&Submit=ENE&SubCategory=5

Like i said, i need a good PSU hopefully someone can recommend. Maybe like $50 for one. Downgrading is ok as long as it stays around $450. As you can see, about half of the computer is the same as mine lol :) . Thanks in advance.

i dont think your sister needs a 7600gt :)

Agree, even more if she's going to be AIMing. And from my point of view, if she is only doing internet and music, you could probably downgrade to 512MB RAM and use the extra $50 to get a good PSU... Again, just an observation.

Wasnt planning on getting the 7600gt. I was just gonna have her use the mobos onboard which is a geforce 6100.

maybe the 512 would be a beter choice ill have to think about it

downgrade to 512mb and give her a dvd burner...it might come useful if she burns movies or something...nice to have too.

you can also buy a case that comes with a psu :) it should be enough to power all the low end hardware.

Yeah, if you don't care about looks try this or this. The included PSU is a good quality Topower, which is quite sufficient for your prospective build.

or get her a $250 e-machine from compusa:

e-machines are actually reliable computers. I have an ancient one that has never had a problem. But it is more fun to build a computer than buy one:)

like i said, you should give her a dvd reader/writer...nowadays you cant have a computer without one...and please...this gets on my nerves but..give her a floppy drive.lol
