Blow out your dust!

I was messing with my new Celery machine the other day, putting in better IDE cables, taking out the old modem, putting in shinier PCI slot covers(nothing else to do), and i decided to blow all the dust out of the heatsinks. HOLY $#@&! it was CAKED onto the CPU heatsink, when i blew it out i almost suffocated. My temps are now 4 degrees Celsius lower. (from 21C or so to about 16-17). Just reminder to all of you with prebuilts with no windows and no idea what your temps are like. I know my temps were great to begin with, but those of you with Prescotts might not be so great. Remember to blow out that dust! (I measured the amount later, and got almost a quarter POUND of dust from my computer).
Dont forget!

DAM, to bad i never took the pic of my friends ol' computer. When you open the side up, you mostly see gray and a few shades of green and some wiring pop out like a daisy during spring.

What do you think the gray is?

Enough to make a minature coat for your dog.

I blow my dust out every once in a while. I have cough attacks after. Feels like your breathing in when its really moist outside. Only difference is the moisture is tasty and cools you down, and this is dirty and makes you sick.

In 5 months I have never blown out my computer, and there are only a few specks on my heatsink. I think it's because I have so many fans(9), the air moves around so fast it carries the dust with it.

I find it a little hard to believe that you got a quarter pound of dust from your cpu heatsink, thats a lot of dust, that much would fill your case up:rolleyes:

I clean my case about every 4 months. But at my work I had to help clean out their computers and I don't think they ever had anyone clean those machines out before. Half of those computers had a least 10-40% filled with dust. It was amazing they're still running. After I did a full maintenance on their computers it ran a whole lot better. XD

"how could I clean my motherboard do I have to use small vacuum cleaner
its already 4 year."

me too! 6 years! how to clean it?

DO NOT USE A VACUUM, IT CREATES STATIC WHICH CAN DAMAGE YOUR COMPONENTS!

Instead use a can of compressed air to blow out the dust. An air compressor works great too if you have one.

I have to clean out my case about every month...It gets realy dusty else and my temps go up a little and i like to keep them as low as possible.

"DO NOT USE A VACUUM"

WHAT, I just did and it looks like I fried my C2D E6600 OCed to 3.5, its smoking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

man i have had roomates in the past with a ton of dust in their machines, its discusting !
a couple guys in my neighbourhood had the same problem. one of their computers stopped working though, and when i opened it up, i found metal shavings on the video card. he replaced it, (cause the shavings shorted it out,) and its as good as new. now i keep my computer imaculate, cleaning it like a madman once a week

wow, can I use dry clothes but im afraid i might destroy the systems especiallly the motherboard, do i have to remove them one by one to clean or not thx a lot im just a newbie on hardware.

Lol Drive To The Gas Station And Blow It Out For A Quarter, You Will Get Weird Looks But It Beats 10$ For A Can That Will Last U Two Times
